HRDT- PROGRAMS

OBJECTIVES

  • To develop and implement labour market programs, services, and projects to assist the Métis people to prepare for, obtain, and/or maintain employment.
  • To represent the local training and employment needs of the Métis.
  • To promote, encourage, support, and expand the partnership and the co-management of labour market force development activities.
  • To establish training and employment priorities for the Métis.
  • To ensure that policies and procedures about implementation of programs, services, and projects are made, in as far as reasonably practical at the local level.
  • To develop linkages with Federal, Provincial, Municipal, and non-government sectors involved in labour market force development to ensure complementary and coordinated efforts.
  • To establish new and innovative programs, services, and projects that encourage and promote economic development for the Métis utilizing local skills and capacity.

To design and implement programs, services, and projects in order to:

  • Provide income support by helping individuals obtain and/or keep employment.
  • Promote positive support and lifestyle counseling for persons receiving assistance.
  • Pro-actively foster, assist, and promote the education and training of the Métis youth.

Ensure that persons receiving assistance are committed to:

  • Achieving the goals of the assistance.
  • Taking primary responsibility for identifying employment needs and services.
  • Sharing the cost of the assistance, where appropriate.
